- Tatela flowers are used for making mala, a garland for Puja purposes. It is used mainly in the Janko ceremony of Newar culture.

- Bark powder of Talela plant helps escalate conception and cure skin diseases like scabies, Mouth cancer, etc.
- Paste of its seeds can be used to treat wounds, boils and constipation.
- The fruit and leaves of Tatela are grilled and are served with spicy dishes which helps improve the taste.
